Title: Gorgeous (Commander in Briefs #2)
Author: Kristy Marie
Publisher: Kristy Marie
Release Date: September 17th 2018
My name is Brecklyn Brannon, and I’m not who I claim to be.
A year ago, I packed up my promising life in the city for a man I saw only once.
Accepting a temporary job with Cade and four blazing hot veterans should have been my way in.
Except, Cade acts like he would rather be tortured than speak to me.
He can resist all he wants, but I made a promise that I intend to keep.
Even if it costs me everything.
I’ve watched her for over a year.
There’s something about her that seems familiar… but now that she’s living here for two weeks, I could care less what it is.
I just want her gone.
Breck is temptation personified, and some lines can’t be crossed.
I’m Major Cade Jameson, and I made a promise, too.
One that I can’t break.
No matter how hard IT gets.
*I would like to thank Autumn Gantz for this tour and providing the eARC copy in exchange for an honest review.*
Pierced my heart more than once. I have never cried with that much pain reading a contemporary romance since 2017.
Blogger’s note: If you haven’t read Commander in Briefs this may be a little spoiler-y for you.
Watching his back rise and fall with every breath, I realize that under the hard exterior is a man who will one day change the world.
O H M Y G H O D I T ’ S C A D E. The world knows I’m crazy for Major Jameson. I was always, Theo who? in the first book. From the very beginning, I’ve been drawn to Cade and having his own book is just amazing.
He doesn’t need me. I’m crazy for thinking he needed saving. I’m no hero. Everything he needs he has right here.

I saw it coming but my heart still wasn’t prepared for Cade’s tragic story. I want to say it’s fast-paced, I guess in a way it is but in scenes where life seems like it has slowed down because the character is reliving a memory, or it dawns on you how much pain a person is in yet you don’t know what to do.
Heart, are you beating? Did this annoying man’s smile just kill you?
The story to me though is unique. These two unlikely people are connected by a person they both love so much and I think that’s the beauty with us humans. We are all connected somehow as the world goes round. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any more heartbreaking, it just did. I actually wanted to put my phone down and cry for a moment but I was on a tight schedule so I kept going but damn, Cade’s story keeps on poking my little heart.
One week is all it took for me to fall in love.
One week to figure out what my brother used to rave about.
One week to find a home.

Major Cade Jameson
So broken, broken heart, broken spirit, he’s healing but he’s barely halfway there and like most other broken people, he thinks he deserves punishment for his past sins. His outburst when he finally found out the truth wasn’t as explosive as I thought or I just read through that scene really fast because I wanted to know what happens next but it could also be because he’s Cade and I knew he never meant any of the words he said and things he did. Cade is probably the softest person you’ll ever know (in The Commander in Briefs world of course).
Can her ass not look so fucking edible while she swishes it in front of my face as her guy rushes the next forty? No wonder I’m fucking losing. I’m distracted as hell.
Now this woman doesn’t know when to quit. It takes a strong person with a strong heart to love someone so damaged and especially when that someone only wants to push you away. The moment when she finally realized when she fell for Cade was just a white dove symbolizing hope. It was never the instances she thought was the magical time but it was during a time she herself wasn’t aware she was already falling for the ex-marine. Breck is also so witty and talking to inner self a lot with super funny comments to everything. Also, she is no match for Cade’s charms.
Fuuuck. Why, God? Why does his voice have to sound so damn sexy? Why couldn’t he have a laugh that sounded like a chipmunk and annoyed me to the point of packing my shit and heading home? Why does it hit me right in the nipple?

I swear Kristy Marie has this magic inside her because she made me cry multiple times with this book. It’s crazy! My favorite thing about her books is it’s so realistic even though it’s fiction. Dealing with PTSD, what it’s like being a marine or an ex-marine, what it’s like being parents of a marine, all in great detail too. I don’t know anyone who’s a marine or anyone who knows anyone who is but this gift of a series of novels she has right here gives me a glimpse into their lives.
This woman is my kryptonite. The jelly to my peanut butter. And I’m fucked.
O V E R A L L
I love the ending. I swear it’s probably my favorite ending of any contemporary romance with a broken character ever. It’s nothing like those broken-guy-gets-healed-by-the-girl stories, but broken-guy-is-on-the-journey-of-healing-with-the-girl-by-his-side.
Why God? Why must I be attracted to this man that wants nothing to do with me?
Fangirling over the ex-marines on the official Facebook Group for this series, I can already tell there are still more books to come because as far as the story goes, we’re not running out of men so soon.
I want everything she’s willing to give and everything she’s going to make me work for.
You might want to check out Drifter for Connor Hayes’s story.
Cade Jameson isn’t going to know what hit him.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
A self-proclaimed reader enthusiast, Kristy started her writing journey back in 2009, reading and writing when her daughter was napping. Establishing her place in Corporate America (because something had to pay the bills), writing became her dirty, late-night secret.
After eight long years, she released her debut novel, Commander in Briefs. It was a long road, but she can honestly say, the road less traveled had the most beautiful sights.
The only thing Kristy Marie loves as much as reading and writing is sports! Especially those that require muscles and a nice ass. Her favorite is, and always will be, baseball. She’s such a fan, that she even married her small town’s high school’s centerfielder where they still live with their three badass kids.
Commander in Briefs is her first series but definitely not her last.
