Crazy For You [Book Review]

Title: Crazy For You (Miraculous Love, #2)

Author: Meghana Sarathy

Release Date: December 26th 2018

Synopsis on Goodreads:

They say one’s life is settled when they have a good job, take marital vows and start a family.
In that sense, my life was settled except for the unease in my heart that was begging for some form of closure with Nate.
I was a happily married woman – My kids adored me, my husband was madly in love with me. My family was perfect. Just the way I loved it.
But then Nate came back and all the old feelings were stirred back to life. I demand answers, but he begs for forgiveness.
I want to turn my back on him, leaving him in the dark but he wishes to bask in the light of the truth – The truth that was kept from him all this while.
We had been trapped in the web of lies and deceit but now the veil of misunderstanding has finally been removed, making us face the raw, naked, agonizing truth.

They say Love is blind. We can’t ever think rationally in love and our heart always wins, but I believe Love is a stubborn, selfish feeling that is not bound by any societal tags or labels, making us question our own morality.
So, this time, I neither listen to my head or heart. I leave the decision to my husband whose love for me has always been pure, ‘right’ and selfless.
Love destroys lives but also births miracles. I want to see how this miraculous love plays out in my life.

Crazy For You is the sequel to Enticed By You and is the final book in the Miraculous Love duet.

5 stars

Beautifully written, inspiring and honest. What a treasure this book is.

“Sometimes. It’s not about right, wrong, just, unjust, moral or immoral. The heart wants what it wants. There is no controlling it.”

All throughout the novel I had no idea who Sara is going to pick. I had no idea how it was going to end. I surrendered to the hands of the author. I wouldn’t want to be Sara though. Oh no. So much heartbreak, misunderstanding, plot twists!

It’s only when we stop fighting do we realize what we have is in by itself so beautiful – maybe not what we had dreamed of but still right and perfect.

This duology strongly talks about love, how it’s selfish but also kind, and so much more. How plenty of people aren’t free to love who they want because it isn’t society’s norm. How two people can’t freely love one another because of company policy. Love against everything else, and love always winning if we surrender to it.

I’m no saint, but his love for me is not tainted. This, I know.

This is a long novel, the author said so in her ‘author’s note’ but it was all necessary to let each person be heard, let each angle and perspective be seen and analyzed.

“It’s not always the morally right decisions that keep people happy and peaceful. It’s the sensible, sacrificial and compassionate ones.”

But that blooming romance between two characters. (aaaaa!) I did not miss that. When that scene came up, I knew then that this right here is something beautiful.

“Don’t give up without a fight. That’s not you.”

These characters are people I need to look up to. I will look up to them. Not the taboo part, but the part where they want to be selfish but just couldn’t. They consider every move and think really hard how it will affect the people around them.

A mirage that I saw as an oasis and built my entire kingdom around, only for it to be blown away by the wind, leaving only dust and dry sand behind.

Every character reacted as how they were expected. Once again everyone has their considerable reasons for reacting that way, they have their own pain and challenges to deal with. It’s beautiful to see how these characters deal with their situations when their lives get intertwined.

“We are what they call the lovesick fools. The ones who sacrifice their love just to see the one we love happy with another. We’re hopeless romantics. A rare breed, but we do exist. Spending our whole lives drunk in possible unrequited love, yet drawing pleasure from their happiness.”

Once again, Meghana Sarathy has wowed me with her ability to give justice to lovers who are – in society’s perspective – in a taboo relationship. One of the reasons why Enticed By You will always hold a special place in my heart was due to the writing. The way Sarathy expresses her emotions, the indirect explanations. I recommended the first book to a friend who’s about the age of Nate because I thought he’d appreciate the writing. (He hasn’t finished it yet so I don’t know what his thoughts will be, being married himself with a kid.)

They gaze at each other with an intensity that can cackle the air, and light the whole room on fire. As ferocious their heady gaze is, it’s passionate, hugged by the blanket of love and cocooned in the pain of separation.

All I can say is, Amazing Amazing Amazing. The lessons I learned from this book, in handling a relationship – not just intimate relationships but also relationships towards friends, colleagues, acquaintances, and the likes – I will carry for the rest of my life. This will be a book I will revisit (not really read the entire thing but I will read the quotes I saved and my review posts) every once in a while since I myself am slowly heading to the adult stage of my life.

Ugh. Taboo romance is my b*tch!

“Your love for her didn’t dim with distance or her marital status. As fucked up as the whole situation is, your love for her is real.”
