Released Date: February 26, 2018

Pages: 250

Synopsis on Goodreads:

The Vasiliev name is a powerful one.
We rule with an iron fist and we do it well.
Being the eldest, I am Father’s best hope at keeping us at the top of the food chain.
Everything I do has purpose.
Everything I do has reason.
Until her.
I play my games thinking several moves ahead.
Power. Power. Power.
Until her.
The next move requires I marry and soon.
This will strengthen us and secure our position.
But I am not to marry her.
I am to wed the eldest Volkov.
Problem is, her younger sister is the one who awakens my dead heart.
It is her I want in my bed and by my side forever.
Her. Her. Her.
In this game, though, it’s not about what I want.
But maybe it can be about what she wants.
I am Vlad.
Vile. Vicious. Villainous. Vasiliev.
And I will win eventually.

Vile, hot, thrilling and Vlad Vasiliev. I can’t get enough of him no matter how dark he is.

This review will be in two parts, a spoiler free and spoiler-y one.

Her future is already written, and I’m holding the pen.

I devoured this book! (If I didn’t need, like really need the sleep I wouldn’t have slept and just read this in one go.) I needed a lot of willpower and self control to put down my phone and give my eyes rest.

What happens when your secret crush is engaged to your sister and now you’re all living under one roof? Obviously nothing good will come out of it especially since it’s Vlad Vasiliev we’re talking about here. No one says “no” to him and he can have dark tastes when it comes to pleasure. Told in two points of view between Vlad and Irina who can’t deny their attraction but there is an order to things, which sibling should marry who. Ker Dukey and K Webster have created a masterpiece.

I’ve been watching him from the background since I could walk. Learning, deconstructing, and pining despite my brain wishing I didn’t. But it’s impossible not to. He’s my favorite addiction.

Vlad is making me want things I’ve never wanted before.

My childish crush on Vlad has always been a secret, and it will remain just that.

Blood. Everywhere. On clothes, hands, even lips. Gun shots. In the head or in the eye, take your pick. They’re living in a world of crazy but it is the kingdom they’re living in and everyone wants to rule at the top. They will stop at nothing to get what they want and that is why everyone plays the game. It’s not just the V Games I’m talking about, the game in life. Children are born and raised to be used as pawns to form ties or acquire land. It’s an addicting game, I can tell. (I think I want to play too, but I can’t stand blood so…)

Looking at him up close is like seeing all Seven Wonders of the World at once.

I still don’t get what happens in the arena during the V Games but we’re probably going to find out when the next book comes. (It’s a spoiler free review, I’m not gonna say anything about book two.) But what I gathered from the small tips of info they gave about the V Games, it seems like the families send representatives and they undergo challenges like drugs, whores, and all (I guess) and they can kill each other.

They’re all playing a game to win what? A happy life? They’re always going to look over their shoulder their whole lives. They do vengeance and revenge in a whole higher level. It makes a great series though and I love it.

This is my first book from either of the authors but I already have my sights set on a few of their separate works and also their previous series where they collaborated. The V Games Series is something you wouldn’t want to miss if you enjoy a good, dark, mafia romance.

My smile falls, and I slink back into the shadows where I belong.
I’m no sun.
But it felt good to shine like one, even if only for a moment.

Nothing will snuff out what has begun to rage between us. An inferno. A fiery explosion of epic proportions.
We are the sun.

I would have loved to see how Irina trained the women who were to become spies of some sort during the V Games. It was also unclear whether Stepan had a liking to Irina or not (Am I really doubting this? No one can resist the beauty of the Volkov sisters.)

“When you’re staring at the sun, you can’t see a shadow.”

I can’t say they’re character developments, more like character shifts. Irina was this innocent, virgin girl, but when she tasted real food for the first time she suddenly became this “vixen” in bed and is surprisingly willing to play hard. Vlad also said in the beginning that he enjoyed seeing tears on women before giving them pleasure, which I thought would be his preference forever but that wasn’t the case anymore when he started sleeping with Irina. He also mentioned she brought the goodness out of him, but I didn’t really witness any good deed he did. He’s always going to be gentle towards Irina, but what about other people? I want to see the real Vlad who’s under the mask and the Vlad that Irina loves to paint so much.

Yuri Vasiliev scares the living lights out of me. Whenever he’s in the room or beside Irina my thoughts always go south. I keep waiting for him to pounce and take her and everything will go to sh*t.

“Your heart can’t help who you love, even if it’s the wrong person.”

I wasn’t surprised when it was revealed that Anton was the man Diana was sleeping with. When Irina thought it was Ven it didn’t make sense because the affair started in their own home before they moved to the Vailievs. I was shocked though when it was Anton who snuck into Irina’s room at night. I was so hoping it were Vlad but that’s impossible ‘cause he couldn’t be at the home of the Volkovs at night. I literally gasped and put a hand over my mouth when it was Anton after all. (Eww, he’s like the age of their dad and likes to get off watching the daughters of his long time employer.)

Diana is up next, and Veniamin will be her partner in this kingdom. I cannot wait to see her win the V Games and hope her relationship with her sister will stay intact. The game is changing.

About the Authors

My books all tend to be darker romance, edge of you seat, angst filled reads. My advice to my readers when starting one of my titles…prepare for the unexpected.

I have always had a passion for storytelling, whether it be through lyrics or bed time stories with my sisters growing up.

My mum would always have a book in her hand when I was young and passed on her love for reading, inspiring me to venture into writing my own. I tend to have a darker edge to my writing. Not all love stories are made from light; some are created in darkness but are just as powerful and worth telling.

When I’m not lost in the world of characters I love spending time with my family. I’m a mum and that comes first in my life but when I do get down time I love attending music concerts or reading events with my younger sister.

K Webster is the author of dozens romance books in many different genres including contemporary romance, historical romance, paranormal romance, and erotic romance. When not spending time with her husband of twelve years and two adorable children, she’s active on social media connecting with her readers.
Her other passions besides writing include reading and graphic design. K can always be found in front of her computer chasing her next idea and taking action. She looks forward to the day when she will see one of her titles on the big screen.
